OLTD 503: Online Communications
"Become familiar with common terms, definitions, and elements related to online environments"
Being immersed in technology and out of your comfort zone can leave anyone feelng quite dizzy and overwhelmed. After surviving my first Ceet Meet and being thrust into a live twitter feed, I am slowly adjusting to the online barage of technology and the speed at which it can come at you.
The best part of these experiences is that the overwhelming feeling of panic subsides as you get more familiar with online terms and live events. What once seems so foriegn is now becoming a choice activity online. I am actually looking forard to my next Ceet Meet where I will be much more informed and less likely to panic over the speed of information being exchanged. It is a good reminder that learners of all technological levels can experience levels of anxiety over the first intial courses attended online. As a facilitator, gudiing students through and giving them time to naviagte and orientate themselves through the course can be key to a successful course beginning.

"Understand how to build rapport and manage groups and Share engagement strategies and tips"
This evidence relates to building rapport and managing groups with our seminar facilitation week. The evidence is the outline of our seminar week and a summary of our debrief of the seminar week. The experrience of putting together week of enaged learning was a powerful one. I enjoyed colloborating with with Sonny. Facilitating and managing our group for the week by posting and replying to the dicussion boards and ePortifolio pages was the most rewarding experience of the week. We had positive feedback from the seminar groups attending our seminar. Our "teacher presence" was felt and most of our cohort had disclosed they had built a stronger rapport OLTD members.

"Examine current research around best practises and emerging practises"
The evidence provided is my philosophy of online facilitation. Being able to articulate your teaching philosophy keeps educators in tune with the current research around best practises and emerging practises. I am constantly looking for new ways to engage my students and how I decided on those options have a great deal to do with how they fit within my basic philosophy of teaching.
Concisely outlining my philosophy of online facilitation embedds the importance of collobration, commuincaton and trust in an online learning environment.
